Pattaya City will mark the beginning of Buddhist Lent with a Visakha Bucha Day walk-run and parade 4 June.
The walk-run will offer a 6 km run and 2 km run beginning at 03.30 pm. on Pratamnak Hill. Bicyclists will also be allowed and water stations will be set up along the route.
The event is meant as a sign of commitment to the 5 Buddhist precepts and to avoid all vices during the 3 month lent period.
Participants will parade towards the Big Buddha on the hill to participate in the Wien Thien ceremony.
Those wanting to compete can contact or sign up at the TAT office on Pratamnak Hill on the day of the run. The 100 baht entry fee includes a commemorative shirt.
